How do I know solar’s right for me?

Just like you, our solar energy systems need the right conditions to flourish. For your home to be able to host our technology, there are a couple of conditions:

  • You own your home

We can only install our systems if you’re the owner of the property.

  • Your power bill is more than $85 per month.

To install a solar subscription and to get lower energy costs you need a power bill of $85 or more.

  • There’s roof space

Solar systems require roof space for installation and we need a sunny area. We can take a look at your roof for you.

Two ways to pay

Choose a payment option that best suits your lifestyle.

  • Progressive increase

Opt for larger energy savings in the first five years of your solar subscription and pay a low monthly solar subscription fee that increases at a fixed 2.5% per year.

  • Fixed fee

Maximise long-term savings over the course of your 25 year solar subscription. Your estimated savings will be lower at the beginning of your contract and grow in later years.

How you'll pay

Your solar subscription is split into two bills – one for solar and one for the grid energy portion. Together, they deliver you a lower cost of energy.

  • Solar subscription bill icon

Once the solar energy system has been activated, you’ll get an invoice for the solar subscription. This covers your maintenance, optimisation and subscription fees. When you join us the first invoice will be for the part of the month that you have powered your home with our solar subscription. And a second invoice for the next full month in advance. After that, you will be charged on the 20th of each month or the following business day going forward.

  • Electricity bill icon

The second part of the solar subscription is your invoice from Ecotricity. This covers any grid energy you’ve purchased over the month and will show you any solar energy that you have sold back to the grid and been credited for. Plus, network, lines charges and GST. The energy portion will vary depending on the season. For example, in summer when there are higher sunshine hours you will purchase less energy and sell more energy back to the grid. Whereas in winter when there are lower sunshine hours you will purchase more energy.

What happens if I move house?

We get that not everything is permanent, and people move homes.  We have three different options for you if you decide to relocate.

  • Transfer

We help you transfer the solar subscription to the new homeowner.

  • Pay out

You pay out the remaining solar subscription and gift it to the new homeowner.

  • Move on

Together, we move your solar subscription to your new home.

FAQs

Starting out on your solar journey can seem a little daunting at first. So we’ve compiled some of our frequently asked questions to help you navigate the world of solar below:

As part of our solar subscription we install solar inverters, solar panels and a battery, and all equipment required to install the system on your property.

We offer a full 25-year warranty on the system as part of the solar subscription. So you don't need to worry about a thing

We use your power bills to look at how much your home currently uses to run comfortably. From here, we're able to use this information to calculate what size of solar energy system would best work in your home to provide you with lower energy costs for 25 years. These estimations assume two things; that your energy use will reduce by 5% once you have total visibility on how much you use, and that the annual electricity price increases by 3.5%.

It comes down to ownership and upfront costs. When you opt for our solar subscription, you pay $0 installation, and pay a simple fixed monthly fee to access our subscription and we will lower the cost of energy for you. When you buy your own system outright, you pay around $20-30,000 to install the system, with our solar subscription you don't need to worry about these upfront costs. If you're deliberating which option is best for you, get in touch and one of our friendly energy experts can talk you through what's possible.
